Happy Friday! Jessica over at Rabid Reads was discussing story plots that she can’t stand to read.
The more I review the more I have come to understand what types of stories I don’t like to read. I get requests all the time from publishers and authors to add new books onto my TBR list and, while I may feel guilty about it, there are some I simply delete after reading the description because I know I am not going to like it. Really why bother offering to review something I know I am going to hate and my review will no doubt reflect that?
A few on my personal no-no list are: Motorcycle Clubs, anything in a Medieval time period, dragon shifters, time travel, billionaire baby deals, BDSM, anything insta-love, sacrificing your love to her ugly fate for the good of the world. The list gets longer and longer each yet.
Now there are some exceptions. While dragons shifters turn me off, Thea Harrison’s Dragos Cuellebre gets a thumbs up from me, and who doesn’t like The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. But in general, there are stories I shy away from.
So this week’s question is simply – What type of story or storyline do you avoid?
Up for grabs is a copy of Christine Feehan’s latest, Bound Together.
Giveaway ends Thursday, April 6th. Open to U.S. residents, 18 years and older.
Thank you to Jove for this week’s giveaway.
For five years, Viktor Prakenskii has put his life on hold in order to take down the world’s most feared motorcycle club from the inside. But carrying out the insane violence and seeing the club’s exploitation of the innocent has brought his traumatic past roaring back. And there’s only one cure: to see the wife he left behind…
Blythe Daniels thought she’d never see Viktor again after he murdered her stepfather and left without a word. She rebuilt her life without him, becoming a personal trainer and physical therapist…becoming strong enough for others to lean on. But when Viktor comes back to Sea Haven, he’ll make Blythe question everything she thought she knew about good and evil—and the dark desires of the heart…
