Sitting home on a miserable raining day nursing another migraine. Why does my brain hate me so? At least if I felt miserable it could be something that lets me read. Maybe I’ll just listen to my audiobook. I still have twelve more hours to go on It. This is officially the longest audiobook I have listened to at over 44 hrs, and after seeing the trailer for The Dark Tower, it seems I am going to have to do a re-read on that as well.
This week’s giveaway is a second chance romance by Jaci Burton in her Hope series. This brings up a question the my friend Christine and I are bouncing around today — have you ever given an author or series a second chance?
I received an Amazon notice that an author I read in the past, Jennifer Harlow, has a new book coming out. I really enjoyed her F.R.E.A.K.S. series but the fourth book took a very dark turn at the end and both Christine and I were pretty pissed off how she left things. Well, three years later, she is putting out a new book and we are torn whether to just give it the finger and turn our back on this series or do we want to give in and read it? J.H. can’t redeem herself with this, since she frankly ruined all of the characters in book 4, but can she breathe new life into it?
So have you ever given an author or a series that you have sworn off another chance, or “is your good will once lost, lost forever?”
Giveaway open to U.S. residents, 18 years and older. Giveaway ends Thursday, May 11th.
In the latest novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Don’t Let Go, it’s never too late for a second chance at first love…
When Loretta Simmons returns to Hope, Oklahoma, after a disastrous marriage, she’s determined to remain independent for the sake of her daughter. The only thing standing in her way is Deacon Fox—the man she loved and walked away from years ago.
Since Loretta owns the bookstore right next to his current renovation project, Deacon can’t escape the woman who broke his heart. Throw in her adorable little girl and one ridiculously oversized dog, and they’re almost a family. Only he can’t be that guy—what they had was once in a lifetime.
But love has a funny way of re-opening a door you thought was firmly closed…
