Friday eBook Giveaway: The Lasaran by Dianne Duvall

Posted April 17, 2020 by Lucy D in Contests & Giveaways / 22 Comments

Our alternate winner is…Mary C. Congratulations.

Happy Friday! Yes, it is Friday for anyone who has lost track of days. Show of hands, who is stir crazy?

Recently, I have been visiting zoos around the world. Many zoos and aquariums have installed some type of webcam on their exhibits and I have to give the award for Best Zoo Cams to the San Diego Zoo. I have heard their exhibits are wonderful but their webcams are awesome too. They obviously have someone directing the cameras and they find the action and track the animals vs other zoos who have fixed cameras and you hope the animals pass by at some point. I kept telling myself to go back to my book but I was having too much fun watching the apes.

On Tuesday, April 21st, Dianne Duvall’s new spinoff series begins with The Lasaran. This is a spinoff of her Immortal Guardians series. If you haven’t read that one yet, you are missing out and you should go order it. I mean now. Go. We’ll wait. There are so many great characters in that series, and I can’t want to see where Dianne brings us in this next series.

Don’t forget to check out my Q&A with Dianne Duvall on this new series.

To be entered in this giveaway, tell us what internet nonsense has sucked up your time while we are all housebound?

Giveaway ends Thursday, April 23rd. This is for a U.S. Kindle version.

Taelon searches the galaxy for his younger sister, who mysteriously disappeared while on a diplomatic mission. When an ally reveals that she was seized and is being held prisoner on Earth, Taelon descends upon the blue planet, intent on freeing her and exacting vengeance. However, all does not go as planned. Before he can find her, Taelon is captured and becomes the subject of torturous experiments. For what feels like an eternity, all he knows is pain and fury… until a mind tentatively touches his own and a woman’s voice forever changes his world.

After suffering tragic losses, Lisa is finally beginning to carve out a future for herself when chance sends her to the Anomalous Cognition Research Institute. What at first appears to be a benign organization seeking participants for a psychic study instead turns out to be a government facility harboring a much darker intent. Lisa discovers this too late and soon becomes the unwilling subject of a terrifying experiment. Just as fear and desperation threaten to consume her, a deep, compelling voice penetrates the looming insanity and lends her hope.

Having seen only the worst of humanity, Taelon is shocked when Lisa risks everything to free him. Together the two make their escape, and Taelon finds himself fascinated by the small human woman who—despite all she’s suffered—can still laugh and tease and lure smiles from him. Friendship swiftly grows between them as they work together to evade soldiers intent on capturing them and find themselves hunted by mystifying preternatural beings. Through it all, Lisa steadfastly remains by his side, stealing more of his heart each day while she helps him unravel the mystery of his sister’s fate. Can they find his sister before the hunters find them? If they survive their quest, will Taelon have to bid Lisa farewell… or can he coax her into leaving her planet and joining him for the adventure of a lifetime?

I have been visiting online museums for virtual tours. So much beauty, art, sculpture and history. Takes hours and you seem to forget the Twilight Zone we are living in with this virus.

I’ve been scrolling Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
    I love It’s a Southern Thing channel.

I’ve been doing jigsaw puzzles online. They are typically small (under 200 pieces) so you can do one in an hour or so. That makes it perfect when you just want to kill time but can’t concentrate enough to read.

Youtube videos of DIY and easy paintings for beginners. The ironic thing is that I don’t even have paints or brushes at home with me!

I’ve been hitting up the ‘weird side of YouTube’ lately. Other than that I’ve mostly been reading. Should probably start exercises again….
