Friday Giveaway: Naked in Death by J.D. Robb

Posted October 16, 2020 by Lucy D in Book Reviews / 5 Comments

Well, it is Friday again. I am still wondering what happened to September and now it’s mid-October.

Normally, I am the biggest homebody. Nothing makes me happier than having no plans for the weekend and I get to read or…well, reading is probably what I am doing, but generally I am just happy after working all week and running around with the kids to just kick back at home whenever possible.   But even a homebody like me has to say “I’m done!” Really, I just want to go see a movie or something. The stress had been building so slowly that I didn’t realize how deep I fell into the pit of despair until I found myself popping out of it.  Depression really sucks.

While I am still doing my virtual exercise classes, bad eating habits crept back in and I have been playing with the same five pounds for the last few months.  Now, that I am out of the pit, I hope I can clean up my eating habits and get back to losing weight.  I am also trying to catch up on my reviews.  I was so far behind and so uninterested in doing anything at all that I was just re-reading to pass the time and mostly just falling asleep.

The last two days I have been re-reading but this time because Grace Draven’s The Ippos King has come out and I wanted to refresh myself on the first two Wraith King books.  The first two books were so good and I love The Beast and The Beast premise.  I also just finished the first book in the new Helen Harper audiobook series which was much better than the last Fairy Godmother series.  There are also a few not so great stories that we need to discuss.

I was even uninteresting in training the puppy for awhile there so I think we will make time to squeeze in some refreshers and finish our virtual training classes especially since it will be a nice weekend.

I hope you are all doing well.  I know there are many states that are lifting their bans and people are out and about but they are showing increased cases so be careful out there.   And if this all isn’t enough, all of you who have been hit by natural disasters: the fires in California, the hurricanes down south…really, whoever opened that hell gate, please close it.  Enough is enough.

Giveaway is for a U.S. Kindle copy  of Naked in Death.   Let’s see who’s brave enough to take their first try of a 51 book series.  Damn, I should have thought to give this one away at the beginning of the quarantine, you might have been caught up by now.   Giveaway ends Thursday, October 22nd.

Here is the novel that started it all- the first book in J.D. Robb’s number-one New York Times-bestselling In Death series, featuring New York homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Roarke.

It is the year 2058, and technology now completely rules the world. But New York City Detective Eve Dallas knows that the irresistible impulses of the human heart are still ruled by just one thing: passion.

When a senator’s daughter is killed, the secret life of prostitution she’d been leading is revealed. The high-profile case takes Lieutenant Eve Dallas into the rarefied circles of Washington politics and society. Further complicating matters is Eve’s growing attraction to Roarke, who is one of the wealthiest and most influential men on the planet, devilishly handsome… and the leading suspect in the investigation.

I’m in SE Georgia and doing good. Everything here pretty much open and most places require a mask. Kept my 9 yrs old home for 1st semester of school doing distance learning but going to be sending home back to regular school in another week when the 2nd semester starts. I’m really excited for that because this distance learning is keeping me stressed out. Lol
I love Nora Roberts and have read most of her books but haven’t tried the JD Robb In Death series yet….not sure why maybe it felt like cheating. Lol

Nora Roberts is Great! And it cannot possibly be cheating because she is she. You should totally give the In Death series a spin.
Thinking back on it I think I fell off when my library stopped carrying the series in audiobooks. That’s how I got started on the series and I guess it just stuck. I love, love the narrator. Guess we both should go hit up the bookstore to stock up now.

Hey. I’m behind on this series but I know it is worth every sungle book!
Okay so I’m way behind which is odd considering how much i do i like this series. 🤔
Yeah depression does suck. Major. I’m glad you’re able to start pulling yourself out. I know from experience how hard that can be.
Speaking of rereading books I did that too, but mine got worse and i just lost interest in everything. In fact that’s how I can usually tell how far down the rabbit hole I’ve gone. I check my reading: how much am i reading, what am I reading, and when?
But just like you I’m finally coming back to the surface so 🥂 to us. And everyone else climbing this mountain.
