Happy Friday!
Did anyone else have a four day weekend for July 4th? I was so excited and then my alarm went off and suddenly it was back to work. Four days–where did they go? I will say that I did take the opportunity to work on my new desk. I purchased a desk for my daughter’s new off campus room but turned out it was going to be way too big so I decided to get her another one and keep this one for myself. The top of the desk was all messed up and needed to be refinished. I watched many, many furniture flipper videos and found a product called Retique It. It came as a kit with primer, stain and protection and a faux wood grain tool. It was so easy to use although I did fuss over my wood graining and had to call everyone in to agree that I could stop re-doing it. So out of the four days I did manage to prime, paint and finish the top, dismantle the desk and bring it up into my office area and put it back together. At least I have that to show for my weekend.
This weekend I have to bring my new high school graduate to college orientation so that means nothing will get done. 🙁
Onto this week’s vacation tour where we travel up to lovely Massachusetts to grab some New England Clam Chowder and think deep in thought while Elsie tries to get a job at MIT.
This giveaway is for a paperback copy and is open to U.S. residents only. Giveaway ends Thursday, June 29th.
Just leave a comment to be entered. Happy reading!
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs.
Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down. Because Jack Smith, the annoyingly attractive and broody older brother of her favorite client, turns out to be the cold-hearted experimental physicist who ruined her mentor’s career and undermined the reputation of theorists everywhere. And that same Jack who now sits on the hiring committee at MIT, right between Elsie and her dream job.
Elsie is prepared for an all-out war of scholarly sabotage but…those long, penetrating looks? Not having to be anything other than her true self when she’s with him? Will falling into an experimentalist’s orbit finally tempt her to put her most guarded theories on love into practice?
looks nice
