Happy Friday!
Last weekend’s art show went well. It was surprising how different each topic was and even how each student chose to display their subject. My daughter created a brochure on the Ethics of Photography. One student created their own cookbook with their own recipes and photos. Someone had film production editing and had a mini sound booth. Another student created a map showing the college’s campus and pointing out their sustainability including recycling water for toilets and rooftop gardens. Another had a video display discussing fan art. One student even had created molds and was making and airbrushing forest creature figurines. (I wanted to buy one. đ ) And yet other students had presentations of book covers and album covers and what makes them visually attractive. Of course, they will all be graduating soon with a BFA so thankfully everything was visually appealing but each had such a different topic and a different presentation. It was a fun night.
This week I will be heading out to pick up my youngest from her Freshman year, and trying to stuff her entire dorm room back into my car.  She has been very active at her school and even becoming social media director for the film club. I already apologized that there will only be boring old us for the next few months until she returns for her Sophomore year. And I am certain if I suggest a movie, I will be vetoed as always.
Speaking of road trips, while The Bump wasn’t as crazy an adventure as Planes, Train and Automobiles, it was a nice story of two people who were on a Journey to fatherhood, but when they were finally on their way to pick up their baby, each started to fear that they wouldn’t measure up to the father-to-be right beside them.

Two men expecting a baby via surrogate go on the road trip of a lifetime in this hilarious and poignant novel by Sidney Karger, author of Best Men.
Wyatt Wallace is a practical, super organized director of TV commercials. Biz Petterelli is a child-actor-turned-magazine-writer who thrives on spontaneity. Though polar opposites, they are fully committed to their relationship and their life in Brooklyn with their dog, Matilda. Theyâre also about to have a baby together.
And theyâre freaking out.
Theyâve both dreamed of becoming parents, but now that itâs happening, theyâre doubting everything. Their baby is due in a few weeks and instead of flying to California just before the birth as planned, Biz has a better idea. They could use one last hurrah, along with some serious âus-timeâ to mend the issues theyâve been having latelyâbefore they get tied down by fatherhood and its impending responsibilities. So the daddies-to-be load up their 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet and embark on an epic cross-country babymoon. They attempt to recharge at the beach in Provincetown, stumble through their impromptu baby shower in Chicago, and endure a Star Wars -themed wedding in Colorado before heading west for the baby.
But when they take several unexpected detours, old wounds are reopened and secrets spill out that could change their relationship for better or for worse, forcing the couple to reexamine the meaning of family while building their own. After all, whatâs a road trip without a few bumps along the way?
Sounds like a bumpy read! Love the cover.
