Happy Holidays!!!!
Back on November 15th I grabbed my best book friend Christine and we were off on another book signing road trip. We’ve been to Storycon in New Orleans in 2016. We went to see Kevin Hearne and narrator, Luke Daniels, in Yale, CT in 2017. This was us back in 2015 at the RWA. That was a book haul. I miss those big signings.
We haven’t been to a book signing since seeing Patricia Briggs in NYC back in 2019.
This time we stopped at the quaint little town of Doylestown, PA. Christine likened it to the tabletop model town in Beetlejuice, which it was. It was an absolutely picture perfect small town like out of any Hallmark Christmas movie. We were on the road to finally meet author, Cecy Robson. Cecy is the author of my FAVORITE book, Crave Me. I even picked up a paperback copy because I had to have her sign that one for me. (It made me so happy!)
Cecy Robson is also the NY Times bestselling author of a new Romantasy series, Old Erth, which starts with Bloodguard published by Red Tower Books. This is an exciting story which features gladiators, magic, fae and other fantastical creatures, and of course, a lovely romance between a gladiator, fighting for his freedom and a fae Princess fighting for her crown.
Cecy was so sweet and so nervous. I don’t know why because it was so interesting to listen to her talk about writing all her books. I have read them all so I know all the characters she was discussing. Authors write alone in their own little bubble not know how their stories will be accepted by the audience. But as a reader, the process of writing a story always seems so magical and it appears so easy and authors are so lucky that they can sit down and everything just flows and how everything in a series ties up so nicely at the end. It is so eye-opening to hear the stories about the quiet drama which goes on “behind the scenes” to bring these stories to life, including dealing with editors and publishers and finding the right niche for the story and how, in fact, Cecy kept writing her stories only to have the publishers go “audiences are so over that…” How hard it must be to put all your heart into a story, finish it, edit it, only to have someone tell you that you are too late to that craze.
After the book talk and Q&A session, we got down to the book signing part. I was lucky enough to get a signed copy of Bloodguard sent to me by Cecy so of course, I got my copy signed to share with you guys. And of course, my signed copy of Crave Me but you ain’t getting that from me. Mine, mine, mine!
Everyone have a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah and a Happy New Year! Let’s get our 2024 Goodreads Challenges completed and start making those Must Read Lists for 2025.
Just leave a comment to be entered in this month’s giveaway. Tell me, which favorite author have you met or who tops your bucket list for a must-meet. Dianne Duvall is still hiding from me and I have added Ali Hazelwood to my list of authors to meet. We need to get more of those large signings going again.
Giveaway is for a hardcover copy and is open to U.S. residents only. Giveaway ends Tuesday, December 31st.
One hundred years. Tens of thousands of gladiators. And today, only one will rise…
Everything in the Kingdom of Arrow is a lie.
Leith of Grey thought coming to this new land and volunteering to fight in the gladiator arena—vicious, bloodthirsty tournaments where only the strongest survive—would earn him enough gold to save his dying sister. He thought there was nothing left to lose.
He was wrong—and they took everything. His hope. His freedom. His very humanity.
All Leith has left is his battle-scarred body, fueled by rage and hardened from years of fighting for the right to live another day.
Then Leith meets Maeve, an elven royal who is everything he despises. Everything he should hate. Until the alluring princess offers him the one thing he needs most: a chance to win the coveted title of Bloodguard—and his freedom.
But in a kingdom built on secrets and lies, hope doesn’t come cheap.
Nor will his ultimate revenge…
I love books like this, they kinda have a little bit of everything in it . Happy holidays
I’ve met Hannah Nicole Maehrer and Olivie Blake at a local bookstore. They were great!
Too hard to narrow it down to one author. My favorite book signing featured ten New England mystery writers at a bookstore which no longer exists.
It’s so awesome you got to meet her! I haven’t met any authors but I’d love to meet Nalini Singh! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! I hope you have an amazing holiday season!
I got to meet Nalini at the 2015 RWA. She was lovely and signed my Heart of Obsidian (I love Kaleb) and a giveaway copy for me. I handed her my card and she said “I know you.” My inner nerd went “Tehehehehe.” I have a copy of Silver Silence on my shelf for the next time I get to meet her because bears!
I was thrilled to meet Katie Reus, Lisa Kessler, Kait Ballenger, BJ Daniels and Deborah Blake at book conventions years ago. I’d love to meet Ali Hazelwood and Dianne Duvall too plus a few others…
I must have been hiding under a rock, because I’d not heard of this new romantic fantasy release yet! The blurb looks amazing! Moving this up towards the top of my TBR pile 😅
Whoops, got so excited about the book blurb, I missed talking about the authors to meet! Ali Hazelwood is definitely up there for me too – her love of both STEM romance and fanfic, I just feel like she’s truly one of us fans 🫶🏻 Ilona and Gordon Andrews are up there for me as well. I’ve done a few giant zoom interview things where you get to see them talk, but I would love to have them sign a book and get to tell them how much the Kate series means to me.
I would be thrilled to meet Ali Hazelwood! I have loved all of her books so much.

I cant wait to read this book. I’ve never been able to meet an author. They don’t do big book release parties or signings near where I live. I live in a major city so that’s a little strange but they’re never by me!
I have yet to meet any of the authors on my list, currently JE Reed “The Divine and The Cursed” is on the top of my list! I’m obsessed with her series and writing style!
Ashley Poston was fun to meet!
oh gosh, this will date me, but the first author I ever met was R.L. Stine when I was in high school and obsessed with the Fear Street books!
One author I need to meet at some point is Brandon Sanderson. His world building is so amazing!
Would absolutely love to win this!!! I rediscovered my love of reading earlier this year so sadly have not got to attend any book signings yet! Although, I already have multiple ones lined up to attend for 2025! ☺️
I have seen so much about this book and have been absolutely dying to read it!! And the blurb is making me even more giddy 🤭 I haven’t met any authors yet but SJM is definitely at the top of that dream list! Or Rebecca Robinson who I’ve had such a pleasure of chatting with 🫶🏻

I was able to have dinner with her and hand out with her and Steph. for several hours. It was amazing. She is so talented and has an amazing mind.

What an amazing giveaway! I truly appreciate the opportunity to win! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting several authors, so it’s tough to choose just one. Some of my favorites include Tracy Wolff, whom I’ve met multiple times and who remembers me! Meeting Abby Jiminez and K.A. Linde at Book Bonanza this year was fantastic too. However, my absolute fan girl moment was when I met Rebecca Yarros years ago, before she released Forth Wing. I’ve always adored her writing and characters!
I’ve never met any authors of the books I’ve read but I’d have loved to have met Maya Angelou or Alice Walker.
