Finally Spring is here!
I just picked up my daughter for her Spring Break just in time for my birthday. It will be nice to have the family together for Birthday Weekend. We have dinner plans to tonight. We also have tickets to Mickey 17 for Saturday And we need to catch up on the new season of Yellowjacket while she is home. Maybe I can take a break from doom-scrolling for awhile.
I have restarted my official TBR list. I have been slacking on reading my review books before the release dates and I am trying to do better. Recently, I find myself gravitating towards more fantasy/romantacy books. Honestly, if it doesn’t have magic or elves or battles against an evil king or to free a kingdom, I am not interested. Does anyone else keep a written TBR list? The biggest thumbs-down on digital readers is that you can’t shuffle your books so they stay in your reading order. I can’t help but download more than I read (that’s crazy) but then “that sounds great” is suddenly three pages of scrolling down. 🙁
Kresley Cole just released the new Immortal After Dark story, Shadow’s Heart. I haven’t picked it up yet. It has been so long since I read that series I am afraid I won’t catch most of the references. There was talk on her fan page discussing narrowing down the re-reads. I will need to see if anyone actually jotted that down. I did try last year to re-read the series after the initial announcement. I believe I finished the first three before I had to put them aside again. Has anyone started Shadow’s Heart yet?
Obviously March is all about St. Patrick’s Day and the luck of the Irish. So this month’s books are all about luck, or as close as I could get.
Giveaway ends Monday, March 31st. Giveaway is for paperback copies and is open to U.S. residents only.
Just give us a Hey in the comments to be entered. Happy reading!
JUST OUR LUCK BY DENISE WILLIAMS
A lottery ticket + donuts = love in this steamy new fake dating romance from beloved author Denise Williams.
Who needs love? Not Sybil Sweet. After years of bouncing from job to job in search of something that feels right and from man to man in search of something special, Sybil is embracing her role as the directionless, floundering member of her family. All she really wants now is a little financial stability and carb comfort. Lucky for her, she’s got just enough in the bank to buy a lottery ticket, and the late-night donut store is open.
Kiran Anderson abandoned his dreams of becoming a doctor to take over running his family’s bakery, and after two years of fighting a losing battle to save the place, he’s exhausted and broke. But when a whirlwind of a woman sweeps in late one night, flirty energy gives way to more…until she runs out the next morning, leaving behind her winning lottery ticket.
Lucky for Kiran, his attempt to return the ticket looks like a grand romantic gesture and goes viral, sending sales through the roof. In an effort to keep the store afloat and to get Sybil’s family off of her back, they agree to fake a relationship for three months. Even with hundreds of millions of dollars, finding each other might end up being the sweetest bit of luck for both of them.
RECIPE FOR A CHARMED LIFE BY RACHEL LINDEN
After a day of unrivaled disappointments, a promising young chef finds every bite of food suddenly tastes bitter. To save her career, she travels to the Pacific Northwest to reconnect with her estranged mom, and discovers a family legacy she never suspected in this delicious novel from the bestselling author of The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie.
American chef Georgia May Jackson has one goal—to run her own restaurant in Paris. After a grueling decade working in Parisian kitchens, she is on the cusp of success. But in one disastrous night, Georgia loses her sous-chef position, her French boyfriend, and her sense of taste! Renowned for her refined palate and daring use of bold flavors to create remarkable dishes, Georgia is devastated to discover her culinary gift has simply…vanished.
When she receives a surprising invitation from her estranged mother, Georgia flees to a small island near Seattle hoping the visit will help her regain her spark in the kitchen. There she tentatively reconnects with her mom, a free-spirited hippie eager to make up for her past mistakes. But there’s something about the enigmatic island Georgia just can’t piece together. Good luck charms keep appearing in the oddest places. Her neighbor is a puzzlingly antagonist (and annoyingly handsome) oyster farmer. And her mom keeps hinting at a mysterious family legacy.
With the clock ticking and time running out to win her dream job in Paris, Georgia begins to unravel some astonishing secrets that make her wonder if the true recipe for a charmed life might look—and taste—very different than she ever imagined.
THE LOVE OF MY AFTER LIFE BY KIRSTY GREENWOOD
A recently deceased woman meets “the one” in the afterlife waiting room, scoring a second chance at life (and love!) if she can find him on Earth before ten days are up…
If she wasn’t dead already, Delphie would be dying of embarrassment. Not only did she just die by choking on a microwaveable burger, she’s also now standing in her “sparkle and shine” nightie in front of the hottest man she’s ever seen. And he’s smiling at her.
As they start to chat, everything else becomes background noise. That is, until someone comes running through a door yelling something about a huge mistake and sends the dreamy stranger back down to Earth. And here Delphie was thinking her luck might be different in the afterlife.
When Delphie is offered a deal in which she can return to Earth and reconnect with the mysterious man, she jumps at the opportunity to find her possible soulmate and a fresh start. But to find him in a city of millions, Delphie is going to have to listen to her heart, learn to ask for help, and perhaps even see the magic in the life she’s leaving behind. . . .
