The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not. Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white. But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.
Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her. Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.
Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them. Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire. She wants them both. And they want her. How will she ever choose between them?
THOUGHTS:
The above description tells you all you need to know about the story, so a more detailed telling isn’t necessary.
This story was sexy and intriguing right from the start when Olivia goes to her friend’s bachlorette party and is made to start undressing the stripper who turns out to be Cash, the owner of the bar, not the actual stripper. He let’s her go to see how far she’ll take it and she’s embarrassed once she finds out when he really isn’t the actual entertainment for the night. As you can see the story starts out sizzling since they are both really turned on by their initial meeting.
Olivia is even more embarrassed when she wakes up the next morning to find her cousin, Marissa, cuddled up in the kitchen with the same guy who made her sizzle the night before, only to find out it was his twin brother Nash.
Olivia has as much of a spark with Cash as she has with Nash. Cash is the hot, sexy, confident bad boy that she is always attracted to but who always breaks her heart, and he obviously wants her as well. Nash is the grown-up, confident lawyer who she should be chasing and who fights his attraction for her because of Liv’s cousin Marissa, and his loyalty to Marissa only makes him sexier to her.
We also see the POV of Cash and Nash as they work through their feelings about Olivia, and how she spins their world out of control.
So Olivia is left with a major decision, which hot, sexy brother to go after, both make her head spin but does she risk her heart again for bad boy Cash who is available, or push on with good boy Nash, and steal her cousin’s man.
But her biggest problem might just be which one did she sleep with last night…
With a hot, sexy, quick read like this one, you can’t go wrong.
Favorite Scene:
I smile. “Yeah, there were a few of each. I wasn’t a wild child, but I wasn’t a shut-in either. Just average, I guess.”
“There’s nothing average about you,” Cash said quietly.
My eyes fly to his. He’s not smiling and he doesn’t appear to be teasing me, which triggers my blush.
“Thank you.”
We stare at each other for a few seconds, right up until the air starts crackling with electricity between us. That’s when I look away.
“So what’s your major?”
“Accounting.”
“Accounting? Accounting is for spinsters who wear their hair in a bun and have a closet full of orthopedic shoes. Why’d you pick accounting?”
I laugh at his vision. “I’m good with numbers. Plus, with an accounting degree I’ll be able to help Dad with the business. It just makes sense.”
“So you’re doing it for your dad?”
“Partly.”
He nods slowly. the expression on his face says he doesn’t believe me, but he says nothing. He just changes the subject.
“What about Mom?”
“She left. A long time ago.”
His eyes narrow on me, but again he says nothing. He’s a very perceptive guy.
“And this bad-boy boyfriend?”
“Bad boy?”
“Yeah. The type you apparently avoid now.”
“Oh, right.” I laugh. It’s one single bark of bitterness. “Ummm, he fell into a wood chipper?” I ask, hoping he’ll get the hint that I don’t really want to talk about him either.
He pauses with his drink halfway to his mouth, as if judging whether or not I’m serious, then he grins and takes a sip.
“Poor guy. And the one before that?”
“Eaten by a shark?”
“And before that?”
“Kidnapped by a traveling circus?”
He chuckles. “Wow. Your life’s like a cautionary tale.”
“Future suitors be warned.”
“I’m willing to take my chances,” he says with a wink.
My stomach flutters in response and my heart does a funny flip that is, in and of itself, a huge red flag.
Change the subject! Change the subject!
“So, what about your family?”
That cools his teasing mood considerably. “A long, horrible story, too awful for the likes of your tender ears.”
“Oh, is that so? So you can ask all kinds of questions, but this is all I get?”
I’m only half teasing. I really do want him to answer some questions, especially while I’ve got my wits about me. Somewhat anyway.
“My questionable upbringing and suspicious connections might make you shake in your boots,” he jokes with a not-quite-half smile.
I turn on my stool and look down at my feet. “I’m not wearing boots.”
“I can see that,” Cash says, reaching down to brush his palm up my calf. “No panty hose either.”
A bubble or air is trapped in my throat, making it impossible for me to breathe. Chills break out and shoot up my leg, straight into my panties.
I have had this one on my Kindle for a while now, but haven’t had a chance to read it.
Great review, Lucy! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
