Our winner is…Texas Book Lover. Congratulations.

Happy Friday!

This Friday snuck up on me. Actually, I have to confess, it snuck up on me because I have been very busy playing my favorite video game. I might have mentioned this already but before I had kids, I used to play this game called ToeJam and Earl, which is about space aliens who crash land on Earth and you have to rebuild the spaceship. About a year ago, I found out that the original company did a crowdfunding and updated the software and the game was re-released. I made my husband buy me a copy and my youngest and I played this together. I frustrate her when we play because I die a lot (oops) and she has to share her lives with me, or I get pushed off the level and she can’t move on until I make my way back up to her.

Now that she left for college, I have been practicing. Although I am not very successful in playing the Hard version, I have finished the game several times on normal and obtained magical bonuses to use in future games. To be fair  about it, I keep texting her pictures of our choices so she gets a say in which of the magical hats we choose.

All that information is my way of letting you know why I have been slacking off lately. I try and limit myself to an hour or so, but I end up playing much longer. Even when I finish playing, I have restarted and promise myself, that I am just going to do the first few easy levels and be ahead for the next time I play, and then it is just one more…

I really need to focus on my books and my reviews or at least limit my gaming time until after I finish my homework.  🙂

We are still working our way through witch-themed stories and this week we have a book from Lana Harper’s Witches of Thistle Grove series.

Just leave a comment to be entered.  This giveaway is for a paperback copy and is open to U.S. residents only.   Giveaway ends Thursday, October 26th.

Opposites attract in this wickedly charming rom-com by Lana Harper, author of Payback’s a Witch.

Wild child Isidora Avramov is a thrill chaser, adept demon summoner, and—despite the whole sexy-evil-sorceress vibe—also a cuddly animal lover. When she’s not designing costumes and new storylines for the Arcane Emporium’s haunted house, Issa’s nursing a secret, conflicted dream of ditching her family’s witchy business to become an indie fashion designer in her own right.

But when someone starts sabotaging the celebrations leading up to this year’s Beltane festival with dark, dangerous magic, a member of the rival Thorn family gets badly hurt—throwing immediate suspicion on the Avramovs. To clear the Avramov name and step up for her family when they need her the most, Issa agrees to serve as a co-investigator, helping none other than Rowan Thorn get to the bottom of things.

Rowan is the very definition of lawful good, so tragically noble and by-the-book he makes Issa’s teeth hurt. In accordance with their families’ complicated history, he and Issa have been archenemies for years and have grown to heartily loathe each other. But as the unlikely duo follow a perplexing trail of clues to a stunning conclusion, Issa and Rowan discover how little they really know each other… and stumble upon a maddening attraction that becomes harder to ignore by the day.

From Bad to Cursed sounds like a fun read for me to enjoy and I am looking forward to reading it! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I haven’t gotten to play games in a long time, but my granddaughter has introduced me to the Minecraft game and I could get really get obsessed about it. Of course, I don’t play the actual game, because I would die all the time, but it has a creative mode, where you can just build your worlds, so that works better for me. I love to play Spyro and Sonic the Hedgehog, but I usually get killed before I get very far and keep having to start over. How do these kids do this?

I don’t play games ever since I weened myself from Castleville. I’d think I was only going to play a short time and would end up playing for hours. It was hard breaking away, but I finally just went cold turkey.

I’ll have to check out the series of the book for today. My library has them all so don’t enter me… Thanks for bringing the series to my attention. I do love good witchy books.
