We talking again this morning with Sara Humphreys the author of the Amoveo Legend series and her soon to be released Dead in the City series, as well as her demon serial.
Hi, Sara. Thank you for coming back to speak with us today. It has been awhile since we first spoke and I think it is safe to say that you have had many, many changes in the last couple of years. By the way, congratulations on winning two PRISM Awards (Dark Paranormal and Best of the Best) for your novel, UNTAMED.
I saw from your Facebook posts that you oldest son has graduated from High School. That’s a big change for a mom to be sending your first child out into the big, bad world. How are you holding up?
It is a big change but an exciting one! I’m so proud of him, as I am of all of my boys, and it’s wild to think he’s starting college. I feel like I just graduated…well maybe not just…but you know what I mean. Time flies right on by.
Have you reached the point where you are now a full-time writer or do you enjoy getting away from your computer and the stories in your head?
I’m lucky that I get to do this for a living but one of the hazards is that the characters don’t always stop when I leave the computer. The truth is that I’m always plotting something and in many ways the bulk of being a writer (for me) is actually thinking about what to write.
Shifter and vampires and demons, oh my! When you were last on our blog, you only have one book released and now you are balancing three separate series. First, let’s talk about your Amoveo series. You are winding down that series and only have two remaining stories still due out. Did you know when you started writing the Amoveos where you wanted it to end? And are you sad to let it end?
I’m not ready for my Amoveo series to end. Not yet. UNCLAIMED (AL #5) comes out in December and I have a character who still needs to have his HEA. Steven has become a fan favorite and the poor man gets put through the ringer in the fifth book. I can’t leave him, or my readers, hanging out there like that. I’m contracted for one more novella, which will be out in 2014 but that’s not Steven’s story. He needs a whole book to fix the mess he’s left in, so I believe there will be two more full-length Amoveo novels down the road.
In your last book, Undone, you give us a brief introduction into you new Dead in the City series featuring Vampires in New York City. Are you just focusing on vampires now, or will there be an addition of other paranormals?
Yes. I wanted to dovetail the series so that I could easily introduce my readers to my vampires in NYC. Dead in the City is the new series and the first book comes out on August 6th. TALL, DARK, AND VAMPIRE is Olivia Hollingsworth’s love story and readers met her in UNDONE. Vampires will be the main attraction but you can look for other paranormal creatures to join the party as we move into book two, VAMPIRE TROUBLE (July 2014).
By the way, I’m having a Twitter Party to celebrate the release of TALL, DARK, AND VAMPIRE. It’s on August 6th from 7pm-8:30pm EST on twitter. I’m giving away a Nook HD, signed books and more. To participate, use #nycvamps to tag your tweets.
You can find all the info on my website. Twitter Party for Tall Dark Vampire
You have also released the first two parts of your new serial story featuring demons. The first being Asmodeus: Demon of Lust. What made you decide to write a story in serial form?
To be honest, I’m jam packed with books that I’m contracted for and I simply don’t have the time to write another whole novel all at once. I also thought this would be a fun way to stay connected with readers in between full-length books. It’s definitely an experiment. We shall see….
Will there be further stories in your demon series?
Asmodeus has the first set of stories. He was introduced in UNDONE and the man would not be ignored—hence having his own love story. Ideally, I’d love to tell the stories of the rest of the Brotherhood and give all seven Princes of Hell their time in the spotlight. However, it will definitely depend on reader demand.
Thank you, Sara, for stopping by and updating us on your new stories and letting us know else we can look forward to reading.
