Review: A Very Merry Hitman by Katie Reus
What a fun set of short stories.
What a fun set of short stories.
This was a fun and exciting short story.
Although I didn’t fall under the spell of Nathan and Amelia as much as I did with the cuter romance of Tucker and Karen in the last book, the story plot contained some unexpected twists that kept your focus on the investigation.
Action packed as well as sexy and romantic, you can’t ask for more. I like this series and I like Katie Reus. I really liked how the characters clicked and how the action kept up the entire story.
This novella was basically a fill-in between between book 2 and 3. The characters were very likable, but the story wasn’t all that exciting. If you need something to fill in the time between the other stories, it certainly was enjoyable. But overall, nothing happened that pushed the series forward. It’s not a must read as part of the series.
This story has been teased for the last two books. Levi Lazaro was a top agent for the NSA until he wife was murdered. After that he dropped off the radar with only one thought — to find the men who killed his wife and make them pay. This was a thrilling tale of a man who allows need for revenge gets derailed for a woman who makes him feel for the first time since his wife died.
When I reviewed Hunter Reborn back in February, I mentioned that although the H/H in Hunter Reborn didn’t excite me, there were two couples I was looking forward to reading. This is the first of those stories involving Ryan and Teresa. As with many series, you will understand more of these characters if you have read the series. Katie Reus laid down the foundation for this story in Hunter Reborn. This novella also adds more into the (hopefully) next story involving Natalia and Aldric.
Katie Reus did a wonderful job and a not so wonderful job with this story. This might have been the first time that an author had me so excited about secondary characters that I had no real interest in reading the story in front of me.
