Elle Kennedy’s again puts a titillating twist on dystopian with her Outlaws series.

[box style=”rounded” border=”full”]I was torn between giving this a 3 or a 4. There is nothing wrong with the story, but we finally were getting new trainees into the BDB and unfortunately, this story was more focused on the Romeo and Juliet romance of Paradise and Craeg. It was one of the few times that […]
Although I didn’t fall under the spell of Nathan and Amelia as much as I did with the cuter romance of Tucker and Karen in the last book, the story plot contained some unexpected twists that kept your focus on the investigation.
Action packed as well as sexy and romantic, you can’t ask for more. I like this series and I like Katie Reus. I really liked how the characters clicked and how the action kept up the entire story.
I really enjoy this series. I was a little put off at the beginning by how close the storyline reflected another book that I read, which is going to happen now and again when you read the same type of story. After the start, this one did go off in its own direction. Derek isn’t a character who is going to be overly romantic, but there was plenty of action to balance that out.
[box style=”rounded” border=”full”]Wow! I need an ice cold shower. Who knew the end of the world could be so hot? Elle Kennedy’s incredible character development shines through that even in a world trying to survive after the bombs have dropped, you wouldn’t mind spending time with these outlaws. Sean Reilly thought he and his twin brother, Oliver, could walk away from their old life, but his old boss is holding his brother hostage, unless Sean will do one more job for him; and his boss’s rival, is literally holding a gun the Bailey’s head unless Sean betrays the man he knew all his life. Sean can’t choose between his twin and the woman he loves. He’s going to have to come up with something quick if he hopes to get them all out of there alive.
This story has been teased for the last two books. Levi Lazaro was a top agent for the NSA until he wife was murdered. After that he dropped off the radar with only one thought — to find the men who killed his wife and make them pay. This was a thrilling tale of a man who allows need for revenge gets derailed for a woman who makes him feel for the first time since his wife died.
Katie Reus did a wonderful job and a not so wonderful job with this story. This might have been the first time that an author had me so excited about secondary characters that I had no real interest in reading the story in front of me.
I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying this story. After Book #1, I thought Raina would end up back together with Miah, but the polished and snobby Duncan hid a damaged psyche and his underlying insecurities made him more human and I enjoyed his damaged character a great deal.
