Audiobook Review: Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones
Charley has an evil plan to hook up her BFF and her Uncle Bob. The question is –is it more dangerous than her plan to get back her client’s soul from a demon known as “The Dealer.”

I once again declare my love/hate with this series. There was a lot of potential for this series, but the sisters aren’t given a chance to use their gifts to their fullest until the very end when Amelie sees the killer’s past right at the apex of the action and once again screeching the whole story to a halt. I will still read the next one, because I am still hoping to see more from these characters.
Women are flocking to Charley’s Dad’s bar and something has got them in a tizzy. There are also women flocking to Charley’s apartment, but these women are all deceased and apparently all traumatized. There is a serial killer on the loose and Charley needs to get some answers from one of the victims before her sister, Gemma, is next.
I have been a long time fan of Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series, but the Nightkind King, Julian Regillus, was not among my favorite characters. He was mean and intimidating and never gave that “I’m a lovable vampire” vibe, but I love when an author can change my mind about a character and in this case, she did it without changing Julian at all.
[box style=”rounded” border=”full”]Poor Charley is still recovering from the trauma of her attack. She believes PTSD can be solved with non-stop Home Shopping Channel, until Gemma and Cookie stage an intervention. [/box] Charley Davidson is a private investigator and grim reaper. She can speak to the departed, which makes solving their deaths so much easier. […]
I enjoy the series but we need more character development on our main characters. We learn more about the gypsies we meet in this story, than we know about Amelie and Céline. Again, we are derailed during the climactic ending while Amelie is dragged into the killer’s past.
Charley hasn’t slept for three weeks. Every time she falls asleep, she draws an incorporeal and very pissed off Reyes to her. Hot, angry dream sex with Reyes, most of us would be taking sleeping pills.
There is good and bad points to this series. Although I like the sisters, my biggest problem would be that they don’t make more use of their gifts and the big reveal always draws away from the momentum of the ending.
I have been binge listening to the audiobooks for this series. I absolutely love it. The hardest part of binge reading is trying to go back and write reviews without giving away too much of future books. I will do my best to stay focused sort of like Charley herself.
I love Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians. Richart is one of the few Guardians who can teleport. That makes him just a bit cooler than his twin, but don’t tell him I said that. I thought it was adorable that Richart develops a bit of a crush on Jenna after saving her, and even though this actions are a bit stalkerish, we know that he has a good heart.
